Just in case you haven't seen it yet, this video is quite revealing about a baboon tribe's transition from patriarchy to matriarchy following the death of all alpha males due to food poisoning. The tribe becomes significantly healthier as a result. If you want to skip skip to 44:22 It truly speaks volumes and backs up everything you have so beautifully written. cheers Gina ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYG0ZuTv5rs.
Kia ora Gina, just watched the final episode of Alone and am so pleased you were the last one standing! You truly have a poet in your lion’s heart. Your gentle strength and desire to be at be part of nature’s rhythm rather than trying to conquer it was beautiful to watch. Thank you ❤️
Just want to say I had no idea who you were, and I just found your new book on my mother in laws table. I had a quick flick through and then later that day I saw an interview in Instagram where you were speaking into grief.
I didn’t realise it was YOU but it struck a chord as my close friend lost her baby late last year and I resonated with your words. Then it clicked and I put two together so- congratulations on your book and I look forward to connecting more here and getting to know you xx
Thank you for these soothing and sobering words Gina. Living in a town where yet another woman was just murdered at the hands of male power and her murderer was charged on IWD……I was struggling to know where to look, how to feel, how not to scream in rage and despair on this day. You have my aching mind and heart a place to rest. Thank you. Your words are light in a hideous maelstrom of darkness.
So true Gina. We are one with all humans, plants and animals. Sadly we place too much emphasis on our differences, forgetting how interconnected we all are and that we all need each other.
Knowing I’ve inspired young people, and especially young women, to reject stereotypes and challenge status quos.
Not only young women, I am your age and you have woken me up, torn off the blinkers and stoked the fire in my belly.
Thank you

Hi Gina. You are inspiring.
When I first saw you on alone Oz.
I thought omg. What is this woman with a lip job doing on a survivor program.
But the more I watched the show and as you all progressed in your survival modes,
I began to appreciate your love for nature and your connection with the land.
And your gratitude. Hugs dear sister xoxox
